How is this for a challenge?  Using Embossing Powders in different ways on your projects.  The team at TGIFC can't wait to see what you do with this.  Just click on the #tgifc227 picture below to go to the challenge site and join in.

I decided to play with a technique using tissue paper and Pigment Sprinkles.  I made two different samples, one barely using the Sprinkles and the other really saturating the colour.  I put it to a vote on my Instagram page to see what would be the most popular - solid colour or sprinkled colour.  Sprinkled won.

I then screwed up the tissue paper, before slightly flattening it again and adhering it to my card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.  I lightly rubbed my Versamark ink pad over the crinkles and then heat set Gold Embossing powder after sprinkling that on the tissue.  It is really hard to photograph the gorgeous gold veins that appear on the tissue paper!  It was a rather intense and heavily textured look, so I chose to just show a hint of it behind my stamped card front.  I used the more traditional heat embossing to do my sentiment, again in gold and finished with a gold foil strip on the diagonal.

I really enjoyed this challenge as it had me thinking outside the box when it came to using embossing powders in an interesting way.  Maybe one for my Techniques class?  Yes, I think so!

If you want the supplies to recreate my project, I would be delighted to be your demonstrator.  Click on the pictures below to shop my New Zealand store 24/7!

  1. This is GORGEOUS!! I love that tissue paper treatment with the gorgeous blooms!

  2. That tissue piece is gorgeous :) You could have made your strip of gold foil with card stock, versamark and gold powder as well to make an additional element. But of course the Gold Foil Sheet is easier.

    1. You are so right, however time wasn't my friend that day lol. Thanks for your kind comment xxx
