JUST A CARD, NO LAYERS! - #tgifc211

We have quite the challenge for some people this week at #tgifc211 - Just a card, no layers.  Me being one of those people!  Since I tend to throw the catalogue at my projects most of the time, paring it back to the absolute minimum was always going to be a challenge!

When I do want to do simple, I tend toward colouring in.  It's my first love and my happy place.  If I do a good job, then I don't need to add anything more.  The Free As A Bird stamp set (coming to a catalogue near you in June), was perfect for what I had in mind.  The open line art images are perfect for all you colour in-ners out there!

I wanted a really soft look so reached for my Water Colour Pencils, but I didn't add any water!  I just sat down and pretended to be five again with my favourite colouring book and pencils!

I admit, I was tempted to add twine or rhinestones or sequins, but I stopped myself and just let it be that simple.  I did, however, make a bunch of them as thank you cards for everyone who ordered online with me last month.  One might have your name on it?

Is this a challenge that inspires you?  Then we would love to see your creations as well and you might just get a mention or be picked as our winner for the week.  Just click HERE to come join in!

If you want the supplies to recreate my project, I would be delighted to be your demonstrator.  Click on the pictures below to shop my New Zealand store 24/7!

  2. That is a beautiful card! Sometimes "simple" is just as pretty as the more advanced cards! Then again...we like a variety! :) Love this stamp set and what you did with it!

  3. A perfect example of a stunning minimal, one layer card design!
I love how the birds look like they are popped off the background, yet you've kept the colouring soft and still allowed the birds to shine through the whole design by adding depth and layers with your amazing colouring skills. Love it!
