ALL ABOUT GINGHAM! - #tgifc213

My gal pals on the TGIF Challenge site have a fab challenge going on this week - All about Gingham Gala.  However, I read "Gingham" and forgot the "Gala" bit!  If you want to join in with the challenge just click on the banner below.  (You should click it anyway and check out my team mates fabulous creations!)

So I saw just "gingham" and figured I would go a little left field with the challenge (left field? mate, I wasn't even in the ball park!!).  The buffalo Check stamp looks kinda like gingham so I wanted to use that and I also wanted to use the new Over the Moon stamp set, with the super cute cows in it.

That got me thinking of a few of my NZ farming friends and the bush shirts they often like to wear.  They were totally my inspiration for this challenge.  The main colours are Red, Blue and Green, so I had to create this trio of cards, one for each colour!

While not strictly gingham as such, I do love how they turned out.  I think I am going to have a few farming friends that will want one of these cards!

JUST A CARD, NO LAYERS! - #tgifc211

We have quite the challenge for some people this week at #tgifc211 - Just a card, no layers.  Me being one of those people!  Since I tend to throw the catalogue at my projects most of the time, paring it back to the absolute minimum was always going to be a challenge!

When I do want to do simple, I tend toward colouring in.  It's my first love and my happy place.  If I do a good job, then I don't need to add anything more.  The Free As A Bird stamp set (coming to a catalogue near you in June), was perfect for what I had in mind.  The open line art images are perfect for all you colour in-ners out there!

I wanted a really soft look so reached for my Water Colour Pencils, but I didn't add any water!  I just sat down and pretended to be five again with my favourite colouring book and pencils!

I admit, I was tempted to add twine or rhinestones or sequins, but I stopped myself and just let it be that simple.  I did, however, make a bunch of them as thank you cards for everyone who ordered online with me last month.  One might have your name on it?

Is this a challenge that inspires you?  Then we would love to see your creations as well and you might just get a mention or be picked as our winner for the week.  Just click HERE to come join in!

MAGNOLIA SHADOW BOX - CREATING KINDNESS BLOG HOP

Welcome to the Creating Kindness blog hop!  We are delighted to have the wonderfully talented Heike Hulle-Bolze join us this month as we take a look at Shadow Box cards.  I used this opportunity to play with a new Stampin' Up! stamp which will be available June 4th in the 2019-2020 catalogue.  This shadow box was the perfect way to frame and showcase the utterly gorgeous Good Morning Magnolia stamp.

To make the shadow box card I followed a great little tutorial by Dawn Griffith which you can see HERE.  I did alter it slightly to fit metric measurements.  The beauty of these cards is that they are like a little theatre, but they still fold flat for easy postage.

I sponged my background card in Petal Pink and Pear Pizzaz inks and coloured my Magnolia images using Stampin' Blends before cutting them out with the coordinating Magnolia Memory dies.  The large Magnolia was adhered directly to the card background but I popped the Magnolia bud and leaf up on dimensionals to create a more 3D picture.

This was such a fun card to make and I can't wait to see what the rest of the team have made.  Click on the button below to go visit with my hugely talented friend, Jay Soriano!
