PLAYING WITH SEPIA TONES - #tgifc209

This week at TGIFC we are exploring Sepia tones!  A sepia tone is a reddish brown monochrome tint.  You used to see it in early photographs, giving the picture a warm, vintage feeling.  I hope this challenge inspires you to join in this week.  Just click on the banner below to head to the TGIFC site and upload you project!  You might even be our top pick this week.

While Sepia is often associated with old photographs and vintage themes, that is not really my style.  I wanted to explore how sepia would look on a modern card.  I am sharing a sneak peek of a gorgeous stamp set called Wildly Happy, which will be available in the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue come June 4th.  This Panda was perfect for my needs, and cute to boot!

My background was stamped in Crumb Cake and spritzed with just a little water to soften the look.  I changed to Soft Suede ink to watercolour my Panda because it has those red undertones I mentioned earlier. I kept the rest of the card clean and very minimal so that it had a modern look rather than a vintage look about it.  I love how it turned out!

If you would like to "get your sepia on" then we would love to see what you come up with!  Come join us!

FOR FAMILY - FANCY FRIDAY BLOG HOP

Happy Friday folks! Welcome to the April Fancy Friday blog hop.  If this is your first time joining us, welcome!  We are a group of past and present Stampin' Up! Artisans who love to craft together and bring you inspiration on the last Friday of every month.

This month is all about Family.  Our family, to be exact.  We have been tasked to make a project for someone in our own family and share it with you all.  May is fast approaching and that means Mother's Day here in the South Pacific.

One of the beautiful make & takes at our recent Onstage Live event for demonstrators, featured this gorgeous Designer Series Paper, Bird Ballard, which will be available for purchase in the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue on June 4th.  I was lucky enough to snag an extra piece and I have put it to good use on this card.  The images are gorgeous and I didn't need to do any other stamping except the sentiment!  It is lovely and feminine and I know my Mum will love it.

Click on the button below to continue on the hop and see what the team have designed for their family member.  Next up is my very good friend Cathy Caines.

If you want the supplies to recreate my project, I would be delighted to be your demonstrator.  Click on the pictures below to shop my New Zealand store 24/7!

LET'S GET SKETCHY WITH COFFEE CAFE - #tgifc207

We have a great sketch to get your imagination all fired up at TGIF this week.  I hope you will join in and then share your project with us on the challenge blog.  Just click on the banner below to come join in the fun!  You might even be our top pick.

Most of my friends know I am a coffee lover and while away recently, I came across a sign that described me perfectly - OCD - Obsessive Coffee Drinker.  Love it!  I also love the Coffee Cafe stamp set and thought it would be a great fit for this sketch.

I used a great idea from a friend of mine, Juan Ambida, on the top of the cup by heat embossing on vellum to create the lid.  I also sponge the cream with White Craft ink to make it slightly more solid looking.

How totally true is that sentiment!  Even across the miles, you can still shout a friend a coffee, just slip a fiver in there!

I would love to see your interpretation of this pretty sketch this week.  I hope you will join in and share your own creations!
