16 - NO, MAKE THAT 60!

Have you ever heard an old song called Sixteen Candles?  My dearest friend recently celebrated a milestone 60th birthday, but all I could hear in my head was that song!!  That was enough to give me the inspiration I needed for her birthday card though!

I can't tell you how happy I was with the outcome!  There is 60 candles on this card front - I know, cause I counted a gazillion times to make absolutely sure!  But only one stamp image, masked multiple times, was used to create it.

I used Stampin' Blends to colour the entire card front and they were a dream to use!  I love the sentiment on the front - talk about understatement haha!

This was a labour of love.  It took me two days to complete, mainly because of the sheer number of candles that had to be stamped and masked, but totally worth the effort!

Do you wish you could colour with Stampin Blends?  I have just started a Blends Club and if you live in New Zealand, you can join in too.  I will show you tips and tricks to achieve great results like those above.  Just message me if you would like the details.

If you want the supplies to recreate my project, I would be delighted to be your demonstrator.  Click on the pictures below to shop my New Zealand store 24/7!

FROSTED FLORAL - STAMP TO SHARE BLOG HOP

Welcome to the Stamp to Share Blog Hop for October.  We are so excited to bring you ideas and inspiration using the First Frost bundle of products.

I find myself gravitating more toward floral images these days, not sure why as I am not exactly a keen gardener, and this bundle of products stole my heart as soon as I saw them.  I have a wedding to attend soon and I knew this set would be perfect for such an occasion.  I don't know the wedding parties colours, so I went for an elegant black and white theme instead.

For some reason, I like making cards at the moment that are really hard to photograph!  Didn't think that through too carefully, did I?!  Can you see that very subtle shimmer on some of the background plants?  It looks stunning in real like and to achieve that look, I simply stamped in Versamark, heat set with clear embossing powder, sprinkled over Dazzling Diamonds and then heat set again.

I hope the happy couple like that card I made for them.  For more inspiration, click on the next button below to visit with my friend Rochelle Blok in Australia!

BOHO CHIC - FANCY FRIDAY BLOG HOP

Welcome to the Fancy Friday blog hop for September.  If this is your first visit to our hop, we are a group of past and present Stampin' Up! Artisans who love to craft together and bring you inspiration each month.

And this month is a doozy!  Susan Wong set us a colour challenge of Mango Melody, Powder Pink, Pacific Point, Smoky Slate, White and Rich Razzleberry.  We didn't have to use all the colours if we didn't want to, but I like a challenge and the inspiration photo did it for me.  One of the team mentioned how "Boho" it felt.  So I ran with that!  What is Boho?  One definition is a melting pot of colour, texture and pattern.  I think I managed to achieve all those things on this wee card!

The trick to using lots of colours in a challenge (and ones I wouldn't necessarily put together anyway!) is to make two or three the stars of your project and using only a little of all the others.  The Country Home stamp set was perfect for this!  I went one step further by mixing Mango Melody and Pacific Point together to create the green for the leaves in the jug.

Next up on the hop is my delightful friend Cathy Caines.  I seriously love everything this girl does!
