ENDLESS SUCCULENTS - GDP#076

One of my favourite challenges at Global Design Project is CASE the Designer.  Each time we have this, we have a different Design Team member in the spotlight and this week it is our very own Kylie Bertucci.  There are a few definitions of CASE around, but here at GDP it means to Copy And Selectively Edit.

I took the floral theme and layout of Kylie's original project and turned my card into a Birthday card.  I can never have too many of these!

I  have admired various cards using watercolour and white heat embossing and this was the perfect opportunity to try this technique myself.  I have to say, I loved it.  It made water colouring so easy and I didn't have to be particularly careful as the ink stayed within the lines when I laid it down.  Great for a beginner!

I used the beautiful line art stamps from the Oh So Succulent stamp set for my background and a simple banner for my sentiment.  I didn't want to hide the watercolouring panel behind a lot of fussy layers.  I also used watercolour paper as this stands up to a lot of water really well.  Don't be afraid to mix colours together either, that was the fun part!

Join us this week with your reinvention of Kylie's sweet card and upload your project to the gallery.  We would love to see what you do!  See you at Global Design Project!

A RIGHT ROYAL COLOUR CHALLENGE CI#04

Welcome to a new Colour Inkspiration Blog Hop.  You have probably just come from the delightful Rose Packer.  Isn't her work amazing?!  Colour Inkspiration is a fun colour challenge that runs for two weeks and you can enter the fun yourself on Facebook!  Just look at the colours we need to use this time!

As soon as I saw them, I immediately thought how regal they were.  The In this World stamp set has a very royal looking chair that I wanted to use, but I didn't want the card to be "stuffy" looking.  I first heat embossed some white ink splatters and a partial grid on watercolor paper.

Then I broke out my Aqua Painter and got to work adding water to my paper before dropping ink on top and watching the magic happen.  I didn't fuss with the colour but just let it run wherever it wanted to go.

Once dry, I added some ribbon, lace and DSP over the top of a ripped doily I colored with my Sponge Brayer.  My very regal chair was added with Dimensionals and the whole card finished with some Basic Pearls.  I really love how my vision translated to the card and have a special friend in mind to receive this.

Next up is my very good friend and amazing 3D designer, Tanya Bell who has a real "wow" project for you!

Be sure to continue along the hop as the design team have some real treats in store for you with this colour challenge.

HI THERE BIRDIE GDP#075

Welcome back to a theme challenge this week at Global Design Project.  If you like flying critters, insects or birds, then this challenge is for you!

We have so many current stamp sets available in both the annual and occasions catalogue to choose from for this theme, that it took me a day just to decide which one to use!  In the end I choose the Builder Birdcage because it really hasn't seen as much love from me so far, and yet I adore all the mix and match images.

I also wanted to use some of the Carried Away DSP from the SAB catalogue, particularly the clouds.  This is an item you can choose for FREE when you purchase $110 in current Stampin' Up! product during Sale-a-bration.  I also have a giveaway offer on my Facebook page for any online orders placed with me during February, which you can see HERE.  Don't miss out!

I kept this card simple with just the black and Mint Macaron colours.  I am finding myself leaning toward more simple designs these days, that anyone can recreate, rather than my normally arty designs.  The mix & match stamps in this set give you endless possible cage combinations which is just so fun!  The two little birds are adorable too!

I hope this card inspires you to create one for yourself and that you feel inspired to play along with us at Global Design Project this week for the Winged Creatures challenge!  See you there xox
