GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT CASES BRIAN! GDP#060

One of my very favourite challenges here at Global Design Project is the one where we get to CASE one of our fellow design team members.  They choose one of their own projects for us to use as inspiration.

At Global Design Project, CASE means to "Copy And Selectively Edit".  We can take any part of the project that appeals, be it colour way, overall layout or theme.

I love Brian's clean and layered style.  I can tell a Brian King card from 50 paces!  I have kept his signature style and colours for this card.  While Brian's card was a baby theme, it also mentioned "love", so I ran with that theme for mine instead.

After stamping my background repeatedly with the word love (LOVE photopolymer stamps!), I layered it up on Tip Top Taupe card and adhered it to my card base on Dimensionals.  With a single Blushing Bride glimmer paper heart for my embellishment, I simply added a sentiment banner through the middle to finish my simple, layered card.

While my card is pretty simple and clean, I did use quite a few different products to create it.  You can find everything I used at my online store.  Simply click on any of the product photo's below to go shop there.

If you are just starting out as a paper-crafter and want "everything" in the catalogue, then you may want to consider doing what I do!  To learn more, please visit my Stampin' Up! Website.

UNDER THE MISTLETOE

Hi All!  Thought I would share this card I made some time ago and just haven't got around to posting until now.  It is too pretty not to share, don't you think?  I love this Christmas Pines Bundle!

This was supposed to be a quick card, but you know me!  I couldn't stop "adding". So just what did I add?

1.  Texture - in the beautiful embossed background
2.  Fussy Cutting - the gorgeous Banner and "Noel"
3.  Die cutting - the Mistletoe itself
4.  Ribbon - had to hang the Mistletoe somehow!
5.  Bling - loving the pearls.  They also remind me of the berries in the embossed background!
6.  Last, but not least, a gorgeous knot of metallic thread in Christmas colour.

So much Christmas goodness on one little card.  I did keep the colour scheme simple though, so tere was a little constraint shown, lol.

BELLA & FRIENDS GDP#059

This week at Global Design Project the theme is Animals and Pets.  I am an animal lover so I couldn't just stop at one card - oh no, I had to make three!  Each one just slightly different than the last.

I can't resist these cute wee cat and dog images from Stampin' Up!'s Bella Friends and Pretty Kitty stamp sets.

I sponged the background of these cards letting the colour fade out toward the top as I went.

To create the coloured splatter, I used an almost dripping wet Aqua Painter to pick up ink and then taped the Aqua Painter against a Blender Pen over my work.  Where the water/ink hits the white card, it left coloured splatter and dots and where it hit the colour, it left a water mark.  Clever, huh?!

How gorgeous are these wee guys and gals?  They make me happy just looking at them!  I used the Blender Pen to colour these images.

Join us at Global Design Project this week as we create to the theme of Animals/Pets.  I hope you will join in too and share a project with us.  I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN GDP#058

In New Zealand, Halloween is not normally a holiday that we recognise.  But as the world is becoming a smaller place, we are starting to see more and more people really getting into it.

At Global Design Project this week, we have a fabulous sketch challenge for you (as always, lol) and I decided to go with the Halloween theme, since it is not too far away now.  Personally, I don't celebrate the holiday, but I adore the spooky images in the Stampin' Up! range this year!

I also love shaker cards and wanted a chance to play with the new Foam Adhesive Strips Stampin' Up! released in the new catalogue this year, especially designed for shaker cards!  You can find them on page 182!  Honestly, these make shaker and spinner cards a doddle!

I did take a wee bit of creative licence with the sketch, but hey, it's all about interpretation!  I used an aquapainter to create my spooky background on watercolour card, which I then adhered to my card front.  I cut my window and frame and placed a window sheet behind.  I then stuck my spooky die cut tree to the back of the window sheet and then added my foam strips to frame the window.  I sprinkled sequins on my watercoloured background and then laid my card front over top.

By adding my tree to the window sheet, the sequins rattle around behind the image instead of over the top of it.  I really like the look.  What do you think?
