AN INLAID RAK - GDP#055

I make so many cards that I give away to customers, team and family, I quite often forget to actually send one to some one I know (or even to someone I haven't met in person) for no other reason then "just because".

Sending a card to say "I am thinking of you", "you are awesome", or just "surprise! I hope this brightens your day", is what this weeks theme at Global Design Project is all about - R.A.K - otherwise known as "Random Act of Kindness".

I wanted to come up with something quite special for the person that will eventually get this card.  She has been a tremendous help to me, even though we have never actually met in person.  She lives on the other side of the world and I just want her to know how much I appreciate her.

The sentiment inside tells her why she is getting this card, so I really didn't need to put anything on the outside, which meant the artwork had to be a real "wow"!  This is called inlaid embossing.  It took me hours to complete, but I love the paint-by-numbers look to it, and it was sooooo worth the effort!

I really need to start doing more video's, don't I?  I do have three done, but I am only just starting out.  You can see them Here.  The technique I used on this card deserves a video of it's own.  I need to put that on my list of things to do!

Edited to add:  Thanks to Donna Scholz for pointing out that this technique is actually Inlaid Die Cuts.  I sometimes trip over the english language, even though it is my first language, lol.  Thank you again Donna - you are right!

CRAZY CRAFTERS BLOG HOP

Welcome to my blog today as I hop around the block with Kylie Bertucci and her Crazy Crafters team of demonstrators in Australia!  I am honoured to be a featured artist as they CASE me!!

I am totally in love with the Paisleys and Posies stamp set and I am using it every chance I get!  It also worked perfectly for the card I decided to CASE.  Can you see the layered and die cut word "sunshine" on my card?  I just had to try this technique again with this stamp set!

I first used this inlaid, layered die cut technique on the card above and I was really interested to see how it would turn out using the busy Paisley stamps.  I do love the effect of the many layers I cut then layered back together again.  It almost renders the sentiment invisible until you tilt the card.

As I normally do, I have carried the stamping through to the inside of the card as well.  It just takes it up another notch and makes it more special for the recipient.

I hope you enjoy hopping around the Crazy Crafters team with me.  Leave some comment love and let them know you visited!  So what a you waiting for?  Hop to it!

HELLO BLOG HOP SUMMER CHRISTMAS

Welcome to the Hello! Blog Hop for the brand new Stampin' Up! Holiday/Seasonal catalogue.  You will be hopping around some amazing Stamp' Up! ® Independent Demonstrators blogs, each with an inspirational project, featuring new catalogue products.  You are currently visiting with me, Paula Dobson in New Zealand.  You can continue hopping by using the next button at the end of this post.

Don't you just love this cheeky little fellow?!!  In the South Pacific we enjoy a hot, summery Christmas (most years!) and I think we will be in for a scorcher this year too.  I wanted to make a Christmas card that celebrated the summer Christmas down under.  I made my own sunny DSP down the side on my card by stamping what is probably the pompom from the Jolly Friends stamp set, in Daffodil Delight.  It looks like a sun!

After masking my little guy, I sponged Soft Sky ink softly over the background to reflect the beautiful blues skies we normally enjoy.  He also wouldn't be complete without his cool dude sunglasses.  The wee Jingle Bell is from the Mini Jingle Bells embellishments on page 29 of the Holiday Catalogue and I actually sewed this to my card so it wouldn't come off!  How's that for dedication, lol. I also added Dazzling Diamonds to the hat cuff for a little bit of glimmer.

Thanks for visiting today!  Your next stop is the amazing Tracy May.  There is lot's of inspiration in this group so hop around the whole hop to see it all!
