STRAWBERRY FIELDS - GDP#051

I recently came across some darling little Hand Sanitisers at a local store.  They had all sorts of themes on the outside, and one that caught my attention had strawberries all over it.  How perfectly it fit in with this weeks Food theme at Global Design Challenge!

I wanted to make up a little gift box to put it in, and I wanted that box to look like a strawberry too. One of the new Specialty Designer Papers available in the Holiday Catalogue, which goes live 1st September, is Fancy Frost DSP, a heavily embossed white card which is perfect for box making and colouring.  I used one of the sheets with a dotted pattern on it, as it reminded me of the pips on a strawberry.  I coloured the card with a sponge brayer and Real Red ink before folding up into a box to hold my hand sanitiser.

I also got to use another new product for the leaves on my box, the Paisley Framelit Dies.  One of the leaves was just perfect to layer up on the lid.  So pretty and intricate.

I used the Fresh Fruits stamp set to finish off my little gift set.  I love the versatility of this stamp set as is a two step set.  You can use the solid images alone, the outline images alone or use them together as I have here.  This type of set is wonderful for a variety of techniques!

This turned out to be such a sweet, fun little gift set.  I was so lucky that I could co-ordinate everything to the sanitiser theme AND the Global Design Project theme too!  I hope you can join us this week and share your own projects with us.  The team have some sweet looking items to share with you to, so go visit and take a look.

CHRISTMAS AURORA GDP#050

Spring is in the air, lambs are being born and Daffodils are daffodiling!  Which means summer is not too far away!  We have Christmas in summer down under and that is the theme of my card this week at Global Design Project.

Our fabulous sketch designer, Teneale, has come up with another beauty to get those creative mojo's going.  Back to my theme of Christmas........

The Greetings From Santa bundle in the Holiday Catalogue, coming your way on September 1st, was a must have for me.  As soon as I saw the tree and deer images, I just knew a scenery card would eventuate!

I sponged ink on Shimmery White card to create my Aurora Australis. The stars form the Southern Cross, a constellation seen in the here in the southern hemisphere, and I used the thinlits from the bundle to cut them from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  It may not be your traditional Christmas Card or colours used, but it is gorgeous and shimmery!

Join us this week as we celebrate our next Guest Designer from last weeks colour challenge.  Head over to Global Design Project to see who the lucky person is!

SENDING LOVE & HUGS GDP#049

I love starting the week off with a new challenge.  Join us at Global Design Project for a pretty colour combination of Pear Pizzazz, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight and be in with the chance to be our next Guest Designer!

This colour combination was begging for a floral design, at least that was my immediate reaction to it.  I also can't resist a good "Resist"!

Here is the process to make this card if you would like to try this fun technique yourself!

1.  Stamp any line image in Versamark ink on Shimmery White card and heat set in clear embossing powder.
2.  Use a piece of Window Sheet to pick up one of the ink colours from an ink pad and lightly spritz the Window Sheet with water.
3.  Smoosh (very technical term) the window sheet over the inked images, transferring the watery ink to your card.  Keep "pouncing the Window Sheet until you get the look you want.
4.  Repeat steps two and three with the remaining colours.
5.  Die cut the word "Love" from Basic Black card and adhere to the artwork with Tombow Multi.
6.  Stamp "sending & Hugs" in Basic Black Archival ink above and below the die cut.
7.  Mount the artwork on a Whisper White mat and then a Basic Black card base.

The water "spots" are simply White Perfect Accents, which I have removed the white backing from and are stuck down with adhesive from a Fine-tip glue pen.  I have used a standard card base, so no matter whether you prefer inches or centimeters, you will cut your card mats to fit the base.

I hope you find time to join us at Global Design Project this week and submit your own entry using this colour combination.  When you visit, check out the rules for submission and have a look at what the rest of the Design Team have come up with too!
