DUSTING OFF THE BRAYER

In amongst event planning and classes this week, I actually found some time to create a card "just because".  When inspiration strikes, you have to grab it, right?

How many of you are guilty of having a "must have" stamp set that has only seen ink once if it was lucky?  Sheltering Tree is just such a stamp for me!  So I am really pleased I pulled it out yesterday and worked with it.  I even teamed it with my Brayer, which was also gathering dust!

Another of those "just in case I need it" cards to add to my stash.  With Convention only about five weeks away, I need to sit down and design my swap.  Hopefully inspiration will strike twice!

SMOOSHY CONGRATS!

I had such a fabulous weekend just gone!  I held a stamp day in the town where I live and was joined by some lovely ladies from around the lower North Island.  It was a great day filled with learning, laughter and great projects!  Here is the project that I taught......

Still on a watercolour kick, as you can see.  This is another version of Laura Bassen's "smooshing" technique.  While I would love to show you how it is done, I did actually learn from an online card class.  The class shares so many wonderful techniques, by amazing artists like Laura, and is well worth doing.  You can sign up HERE.
I have used only Stampin' Up! products to create this card.  I was delighted to see that the SU classic ink range acts very similarly to the distress ink range that others use.  I also used Shimmery White card instead of watercolour paper.

Of course, no card is complete with an empty inside, so I carried the same technique along the bottom to finish it off.

WATERCOLOUR BLOSSOMS

I spent the last weekend at a wonderful retreat in Ohope, run by fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Delys Cram.  Ohope is one of the most beautiful beaches in New Zealand and we got to share it with Nikki Spencer, another fellow Demonstrator from Melbourne, Australia!!

Nikki and I made sure to go for a walk on the beach Sunday morning before the classes began for the day.
I love spending time with these girls!  We always have a blast together.

The class I taught was a watercolouring class using Aqua Painters and the beautiful Easter set, Indescribable Gift.

I love the soft blues and pinks together, but by adding the darker brown for contrast, it doesn't look "wimpy".  While this class might have initially scared some of the camp attendees, everyone did a fabulous job and I am sure some even went home feeling like Monet!!
