BOKEH EFFECT CHRISTMAS CARD

I recently taught this card at the Great Welly Paper Caper 2014 stamp camp in Silverstream.  This is an annual camp that I run with my good friend and fellow demonstrator, Sharlene Meyer.  Just so you know, we are doing it all again Oct 16-18, 2015.  Mark your diaries!

Anyway, the Bokeh technique is not new to me, as it is popping up all over the internet, but it is a real favourite of mine!  I enjoyed showing our camp ladies how to achieve this soft, out of focus look on a card.  A bonus of attending the camp is the exclusive tutorials you get, this card being one of them.  You can see another sample of mine HERE.

The Bokeh technique is very easy to achieve.  This is how I do it:

1.  Sponge colours of choice on Whisper White cardstock.
2.  Punch two or three sizes of circles from a Window Sheet.
3.  Using a sponge or dauber, apply White craft ink through the circle mask you have just punched.

Take care no to smudge the white ink as it takes some time to dry.  I also used the tip of the dauber to apply ink in a more concentrated area.

A PLAID FESTIVAL

I love the plaid effect you can get when using the new Blendabilities Markers from Stampin' Up!  You can make the plaid from scratch, as I did, by running each of the dark, medium and light markers down your card stock in lines, then coming back the other way with the Blendabilities Colour Lifter.

I did that with two sets of Blendies here, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive.  The colour lifter does take a minute or two to process completely, so you may need to come back in and run it over the card again to achieve the lightness you want.

BLENDED PINE

Just a quick post today.  I know I have been a bit scarce lately, and I do apologise.  I have every intention to getting back to posting regularly.  It might just be a bit longer yet, before that happens.  Rest assured, I am still here creating!

I just wanted to share my version of a card I have seen in Blogland and on Pinterest.  I don't know who first thought of the idea (thank you whoever you are!), but I thought it was beautiful and just had to give it a go myself.
I own exactly two pottles of coloured embossing ink - that is all!!  It is just tough luck if a want a little colour on dark card then, isn't it?!  Or is it?  Well, let me tell you, all you need is White embossing powder and Stampin' Up!'s new Blendabilities Markers.  That is how I have coloured this gorgeous Christmas card.  Emboss first, colour second, DONE!  The colours are vibrant and don't smear because the markers are alcohol based and dry quickly.  Just another good reason to invest in a few (or all) packs of Blendabilities.
