CREATIVE BLOG HOP

I have been asked to join in the Creative Blog Hop.  This Hop has been going for a while now and I have seen it pop up on some of my favourite blogs.  My lovely friend in Blogging, Andrea Lowcock of Enchantink, recently participated and asked me if I would join in too and pass the baton on, so to speak.  I was honoured that she even asked.  Andrea's paper-crafting enthusiasm, never fails to invigorate me, and her projects are out of this world gorgeous!  I have know Andrea for about four years now, although we have never actually met in person.  Andrea loves to join in various Challenge sites and it was through Just Add Ink, while I was on the design team, that her gorgeous work caught my eye.  Here are a couple examples of her work.......

Now, on to my must answer questions about my work and creative process that may (or may not!) interest you......

Question 1: What am I working on right now?
Lots of secret squirrel stuff going on right now!!  I am helping one of my lovely downline next weekend at a Craft show.  It is such a great way to meet new crafty people and showcase the great product that is Stampin' Up!
The following weekend, I am running an annual stamp camp with a fellow demonstrator.  So I am putting the finishing touches to my class and lots of other surprises we have in store for the girls coming along.
Of course, Christmas is only a little over three months away, so designing Christmas classes is also at the top of my list.  I am so lucky to do what I do!!

Question 2: How does my work differ from others in my genre?
I don't know that my work differs really, because it changes and evolves.  My first love is sponging landscape type cards, but I really have moved away from that style, for the time being.  Now I dabble in trends I see developing.  I teach a regular monthly techniques class, so I have to try new things all the time.  I stops me getting stale and stuck in a rut, that's for sure.

Question 3: Why do I create what I do?
Such a simple answer - because I LOVE it!!!  I really, really, love creating mini works of art that I can give away and make other people happy.

Question 4: How does my creative process work?
That's not so easy to answer!  Sometimes things come together really quickly, other times it is a struggle!  I love Pinterest for tonnes of ideas from other artists.  I like to CASE (copy and share everything) other artists when ideas are slow to come, but the projects normally end up taking on a life of their own and don't resemble my starting point at all by the time I am finished.

A couple of artists who never fail to inspire me are Teneale Williams and Jacqui Williams - not related, lol!!  And I now nominate these two very talented ladies to join in this Blog Hop!  Luckily for me, both of them have said yes!!

Teneale Williams is a wonderful Stampin' Up! friend I have known for about five years now.  I met her in Sydney when I literally stalked her!!  She was so gracious and actually talked to me again the following year when we bumped into each other again, lol.  I am a huge fan of the many layers Teneale loves to use and the incredible depth of colour she achieves on all her projects.  Her attention to detail just blows my mind!

Jacqui Williams is my Stampin' Up! upline and I count my lucky stars I said yes when she asked me to join her team just over five years ago.  Jacqui is not only my upline, but she is a wonderful friend, an inspiration, and another incredible talent.  She encourages, without pushing, and inspires me with her actions.  I admire her greatly!!

I thank you for hanging on and reading this marathon to the end.  I hope you will stop by all these blogs and leave a little comment love to these amazing women!

A FLORAL FAREWELL

Over at Just Add Ink this week, Kim has a fabulous inspiration photo for you to play along with.  Alas, it is also my last week with this fabulous Design Team and all round great bunch of girls.  I have decided it is time to take a step back in my design commitments.

I must admit that this photo threw me into a tail spin.  I am not really much of a floral girl, and the colours had me cross eyed, but in the end, I kept it simple and I really love the result.

I decided to frame my sentiment with an oval die cut and I think it works wonderfully.  I am pretty sure it is also the first time I have ever used Tempting Turquoise ink!  I pulled out my Blendabilities to colour the flowers and popped a couple up on dimensionals.  I also coloured a couple of Pearls in blue to match my sentiment.

I hope you will join us at Just Add Ink this week.  I can't wait to see what YOU come up with!!

SWEET PEAS IN A POD

It is not often I scrapbook a page, but I just had to show you this one!  I recently held a Stamp Retreat and I asked my good friend Delys Cram, if she would teach a Scrapbook class.  I consider her my own personal Scrapbook Queen!  Luckily for me, she said yes.  You can see Delys's original page HERE.  This is my version.......

Do you know the feeling when you see a photo of yourself and you think, "that's not how I really look!", when in reality, I am sure it is!  This would be the only photo I have of recent times, where I can honestly see me, as I see me (if that makes sense!).  I am blessed to be standing with my beautiful daughter, who takes after her Dad!  It was also her dad who came up with the fab name for this page!  What a great family effort, lol.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY - JAI #230

To celebrate Fathers Day this Sunday, the design team at Just Add Ink have come up with some gorgeous designs to help celebrate Dad, and we hope you will join us too this week.

Now,  not everyone has a Dad, me included, so I kept manly colours to celebrate the other men in our lives, but I chose not to put a Fathers Day sentiment on my card.  I also used a technique called "bokeh", which is a photography term (see my blog header!), and a trending technique in card making.  I watched this wonderful video by Dawn Woleslagle, before attempting to "bokeh" my card!

This card ended up celebrating a friends birthday and I am pretty sure he liked it, lol.

Join us this week at Just Add Ink and show us what you have done for Dad or the man in your life!!
