MOON HALO

We have had some beautiful winter days here in Wellington over the past week.  Sunshiney days, but coooold frosts in the morning!  At night the moonshines brightly too, but always with a halo around it.  This was my inspiration for this sponged card.

I love the circle created around the moon when conditions are just right and wanted to capture the magic of it.  The ever popular "lovely as a Tree" set makes a gorgeous foreground and it was about time I put some ink on it!

TO MY SWEETIE

It is my Sweetie's Birthday today!  As usual, I couldn't decide on a masculine style card I wanted to do!  As I have mentioned before, I find cards for blokes the hardest to make!  Anyway, this is the design I came up with at the eleventh hour!!

I am a Neutrals nut, so stuck with what I know best!  I am also ashamed to say I have had the "Need for Speed" set for some time and only used it once.  While my DH doesn't ride a quadbike, I figured anything with wheels and an engine would be good!  Add hardware and Twill tape, which I used like a banner, and I was good to go.

Of course I decorated the inside too.  I love how a little artwork on the inside of a card can take it from drab to fab, don't you?

A TASTE OF EGYPT

Some of the cards I have been playing around with lately involve sponging (there's a surprise!) but little or no stamping.  They do invovole a lot of masking and a pile of post-it-notes at the end though.
I get a lot of my inspiration from photo's I see on the net and I really enjoy recreating the scenes on a card.  Sometimes they look like the photo and sometimes I put my own spin on them.  However they turn out, they are a challenge I love to do!

I saw a photo of the Pyramids in Egypt with a camel in the foreground for this card.  I don't have a camel stamp, so opted to conentrate on the hazy sky and pryaminds themselves.  I also chose to put in a moon to really make my sentiment jump out.  The Word Play sentiment set is nearly always perfect for these sponged cards I love to do.  Have you got this set yet?

DYNAMIC BIKE!

I can't believe I have actually finished a challenge card.  It is the first in quite sometime!  I decided to play along at Dynamic Duos this week.  the colours are lovely!

Unfortunately for me, the weather has been terrible and not very conducive to taking photo's, so the colour is not as great as I would have liked in the photo, but you can use your imagination!

 I don't know if you have noticed, but I rather like this bike! 

GROWING UP

It seems only yesterday when I held my sweet baby girl in my arms for the first time.  Well, that sweet baby girl has just celebrated her 18th Birthday!  Not so little anymore, but still just as sweet.  She has kept all the cards I have made for her over the last couple of years, so I knew this one would have to be pretty special.

Now, she isn't normally a "pink" girl, although she does like "bling".  I figured Pretty in Pink and Soft Suede would be a nice combination and ran with that.  I used my Simply Scored board to create the diagonal score lines on the base, then gently sponged my two colours to really make them "pop".  My Big Shot then got a great work out!  I used the Framlits to create the central tag, and the embosslits to create the grogeous wee Butterflies. 

This is how I created the number "18" on the front:
1.  I used the naked chip board numbers from On Board Merry Medley.
2.  Covered both with Two Way Glue Pen.
3.  Sprinkled the pink glitter over the top from the Fine Supernova Stampin' Glitter range.
4.  Covered each number with a thick layer of Crystal Effects.
5.  Walked away and left them to dry over night!

Thankfully, my baby loved it!

POT O' FLOWERS

A good blogging friend of mine, Helen of H2 Designs, recently made a new version of the old classic - a Flower Pot card.  It was such a sweet project I just had to re-create it and share.  This sweet verson is made entirely with the Big Shot and is a wonderful way to showcase it's versatility.

Helen very kindly sent me the tutorial she wrote and if you leave her a comment on her blog, I am sure she will send it to you too!  There is more to Helen's card and tutorial than I have shown you here.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE BETWEEN POSTS!

Unfortunately time has not been my own lately and I haven't had much time for crafting.  I finally got sponge to paper this weekend and came up with this card.

Not a beginners card - thats for sure!  It took a lot of post-it-notes to create this scene, but it was certainly worth killing a few trees for.  Not to mention, my sponges got a good workout too!

I have only used three colours to create this entire card: Marina Mist, Pool Party and Island Indigo.  A few dots of White Gel Pen and Dazzling Diamonds for the sea spray and it was finished.
