2019-2021 SU IN-COLOURS - FANCY FRIDAY BLOG HOP

Now that the Stampin' Up! 2019-2020 catalogue has been live for a couple of months, have you picked a favourite new In-Colour?  Initially, I felt they were quite vintage in nature, but the more I use them, the more I realise that they are really quite timeless and all work beautifully with our core colours.

Because of that, I couldn't just pick one or two as a focus for my project.  I had to use them all!
I masked off the edges of a piece of water colour paper before using a wide paint brush to apply a striped wash of each colour.  I went from right to left and let the colour fade out as I dragged it across the paper.

My stripes are the hero of the card, so I kept the sentiment simple and used the great combination of the Well Said stamp set with the Well Written dies.  I have a couple of beautiful friends going through some pretty tough times at the moment and this card is dedicated to both of them ♥

I finished off the project with the Woven Threads Sequin Assortment as each sequin matches the ink colours perfectly!

Now we are off to see what Jeanna has in store for us.  I wonder what her In Colour picks will be?!

CHRISTMAS IN JULY - tgifc221

It's time to celebrate Christmas in July with the TGIFC team!  It seems wickedly early to be making Christmas cards, but some like to get a good head start on preparations and this challenge will definitely appeal to them!

I had to get a little creative because I only had ONE current Christmas stamp set!  And even then, I only used the sentiment from it!  Then because I could, I went pink and blue.  Not very traditional, but I figured, why not?

The Silhouette Scenes stamp set has such cute kids figures in it and these two were perfect for my Santa spotting children!  My background has been water coloured on Shimmery White cardstock in Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather and Night of Navy Ink.  Once that was dry, I created a few swirls with water from my Aqua Painter in the sky, then lifted the ink with a paper towel.  To make them look really special, as only Santa's contrails would, I added Wink of Stella over the top.

Photographing this shimmer was hard work, but I think you can see it over the whole card in the photo above and because you can never have too much shimmer, I added Rhinestones for good measure!

It's definitely not your traditional Christmas card but I think it represents the wonder of Christmas that kids feel.  What do you think?  I hope you can play along this week.  Click on HERE to join us!

PARCELS & PETALS OMBRE - A BLOG AND VIDEO HOP

I was very excited to be asked to join this rather special blog and video hop, featuring the Parcel & Petals bundle of product, that the very talent Ashley Fifer has organised with a few Stampin' Up! Demo's from around the world!

What better way to dress up a gift for someone than with products designed to coordinate with one another.  My projects were designed with a Birthday in mind and I love that the die set comes with a fabulous self closing box that holds a small gift of chocolate perfectly.

To make the most of this pretty repeat patterned stamp, I have used an ombre technique to achieve the lovely colour gradient on the front of my card.

I also used the same stamp to add visual interest and carry the same theme over on to the self closing gift box.  You can watch all of my processes in the video below!
