DISNEY INSPIRED CHALLENGE FOR YOU! - #tgifc195

Who doesn't love Disney?  We all grew up with it and #tgifc195 is all about being Disney inspired this week!

I simply can't help it.  I take these challenges literally.  If it is a colour challenge, I will only use those colours.  If it is a sketch challenge, I will follow it exactly!  So Disney inspired meant Mickey Mouse to me.  Hello people!.............I have'nt got a Mickey Mouse anything in sight. I find it incredibly hard to "break out" haha!  As I stood staring at all my stamps in a daze, scratching my head, my eyes landed on the Magical Mermaid stamp set and I got excited!!

Say hello to Arial!  This little Mermaid hasn't seen an awful lot of inky love from me, so I was pleased to be able to use her on this underwater shaker card.  I used my Stampin' Blends to colour her.  I was pleased with the detailed scales in her tail and added some Wink of Stella to make it shine.

The colours on this card were totally inspired by the Tranquil Textures Sprinkles I used in the shaker window.  You can see a little bit of everything in there!

We would love to have you join in with this fun challenge this week.  Head on over to the TGIF Challenge Blog and upload a project that has you Disney Inspired with #tgifc195!

If you want the supplies to recreate my project, I would be delighted to be your demonstrator.  Click on the pictures below to shop my New Zealand store 24/7!

BUTTERFLY GALA - #tgifc193

Happy New Year to you all!  With the new year comes exciting new things for me and one of them was being invited to join the amazing TGIF team of designers!  I am delighted to bring you my first design for this awesome challenge site today!

I love a good colour challenge and this one features a classic combination of green, pink and grey.  Now that the Occasions catalogue is live, I had a whole heap of new product to choose from to use! I chose the Butterfly Gala bundle and teamed it with a Sale-A-Bration freebie - Botanical Butterfly DSP.  You can earn this DSP for FREE when you purchase current Stampin' Up! products to the value of $110 NZD from me.

I chose this DSP because one side of every sheet is black and white and you can add any colour to make it suit your projects.  I sponged Melon Mambo ink over top of one sheet for a nice bright pop of colour.
I was inspired to use a card map designed by my good friend Teneale Williams.  I love the balance of all the elements and the bold focal point of the circle.  My project turned out even better than I had imagined it!

Have you got a project percolating in your head using these colours as well?  We would love you to share you project with us.  Head over to #tgifc193 and join in the fun!

BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM! - CREATING KINDNESS BLOG HOP

HAPPY NEW YEAR and welcome to the January Creating Kindness blog hop!!  We have a fabulous fancy fold card for you this month called a Bendi Card!  I think I may have made one a looooong time ago, so it was fun to try out this unusual card fold again.  We are also delighted to have New Zealand's newest Artisan Design Team member, Angela Meiritz-Reid, join in as guest designer this month!

The Beach Happy stamp set was a must have from the new Occasions catalogue.  It is summer here in the South Pacific so it will get plenty of use, but it was also a perfect choice to create my Bendi card and make a beach scene.  Can you just imagine relaxing in that deck chair?

There are plenty of Bendi card tutorials around that explain how to make one but I used Jenny Hall's tutorial as a reminder.  It was quick and easy to follow!  I did cheat a little and use one of the framelits from In the Woods Framelit Dies to create the curved angles on my front panels rather than hand cutting them.  I sponged in my sky, sea and sand dune background before deciding the placement of beach chair, hat and basket.

This was such a fun card to make that I have other versions percolating in my mind now!  Next up on the hop is the very talented Danielle Bennenk, just click the button below to visit!
