CHRISTMAS IN JULY - tgifc221

It's time to celebrate Christmas in July with the TGIFC team!  It seems wickedly early to be making Christmas cards, but some like to get a good head start on preparations and this challenge will definitely appeal to them!

I had to get a little creative because I only had ONE current Christmas stamp set!  And even then, I only used the sentiment from it!  Then because I could, I went pink and blue.  Not very traditional, but I figured, why not?

The Silhouette Scenes stamp set has such cute kids figures in it and these two were perfect for my Santa spotting children!  My background has been water coloured on Shimmery White cardstock in Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather and Night of Navy Ink.  Once that was dry, I created a few swirls with water from my Aqua Painter in the sky, then lifted the ink with a paper towel.  To make them look really special, as only Santa's contrails would, I added Wink of Stella over the top.

Photographing this shimmer was hard work, but I think you can see it over the whole card in the photo above and because you can never have too much shimmer, I added Rhinestones for good measure!

It's definitely not your traditional Christmas card but I think it represents the wonder of Christmas that kids feel.  What do you think?  I hope you can play along this week.  Click on HERE to join us!

PARCELS & PETALS OMBRE - A BLOG AND VIDEO HOP

I was very excited to be asked to join this rather special blog and video hop, featuring the Parcel & Petals bundle of product, that the very talent Ashley Fifer has organised with a few Stampin' Up! Demo's from around the world!

What better way to dress up a gift for someone than with products designed to coordinate with one another.  My projects were designed with a Birthday in mind and I love that the die set comes with a fabulous self closing box that holds a small gift of chocolate perfectly.

To make the most of this pretty repeat patterned stamp, I have used an ombre technique to achieve the lovely colour gradient on the front of my card.

I also used the same stamp to add visual interest and carry the same theme over on to the self closing gift box.  You can watch all of my processes in the video below!

MY GO TO TECHNIQUE - CREATING KINDNESS BLOG & VIDEO HOP

Do you know, I have been running a monthly Techniques class for the past 8 years, yet my go to technique, when I want to showcase just one, is always the same - ink blending.  I just get so much satisfaction when I turn a plain white card into a rainbow of colours!  The Creating Kindness team have a variety of techniques to share this month and we are delighted to be joined by our guest designer Christine Versluis!

I couldn't stop at just one card.  After designing my first card, I made a second and filmed a video to show you how I created it.  I used Ink Blending brushes, along with Stampin' Up! inks.

My first card uses Pumpkin Pie, Bermuda Bay and Blueberry Bushell as my background.  Not really colours I would expect to go together as a background, but I was totally inspired by Kristina Werner's Oxide colour swatches for both my cards.

You can watch my coloring process here and if you haven't already, I would love it if you subscribed to my You Tube channel so you don't miss any video's I post.  Thank you!!

Next up on the Techniques hop is the super talented and all round nice guy, Jay Soriano!  Love ya Jay!
