CREATING KINDNESS BLOG HOP - FUN FOLDS!

The Creating Kindness design team have done it again with another fabulous theme - Fun Folds!  We are also delighted to have the lovely Lou Kitzelman join us as our guest designer this month.

I love a good challenge but I don't often dabble in fancy folds.  When I found out what the theme was this month, I couldn't get a Spring card, also known as a Springer card, out of my head and knew I had to make one or it would drive me batty.

The Spring card was the first ever fancy fold card I learned when first starting out as a cardmaker, so I guess it has a special place in my heart.  It is actually a very simple card, with a few strategic scorelines to make it stand the way it does.

You need to make sure you adhere the base down so it creates the pedestal the card stands on.  My teammate, Cheryll Miller, had the same idea to make this card fold too! Great minds think alike! Cheryll has made a video to demonstrate this awesome wee fold, so head over to her blog to see how it is done!

I have featured the True Gentleman Suite from the Occasions catalogue, pages 44-45.  I love this suite for the men in our lives.  With a great mix of greens, blues and browns, this DSP is sure to appeal to any male, and not a flower in sight!  The Tailored Tag punch works with the fun images and sentiments from the Truly Tailored stamp set.  It is easy to trim down slightly and create a mat with another solid colour card punched out as I have done here.

Head on over to my very talented friend, Maria Willis, to see what fun fold project she has in store for us.  I know it will be a beauty!

  4. It's fabulous Paula! This was one of the first folds I did as well... we must be of the same stamping generation! Your card is so different to mine and I love the great use of the Truly Tailored set with the spring fold. Looking at your card, if that is the largest of the Stitched Shape Square Framelits as your layer, then yours is a bit smaller than mine and would cut out of an A4 sheet of card and fit in a standard square envelope? Much more versatile than my oversized design. :) My card requires a 12" x 12" sheet of card for the base and requires a special larger square envelope (created with the Envelope punch board).

  6. Love this Paula. This is one of the first folds I learnt as well and I had forgotten about it. I love that you did a masculine version. Now I must make one too! Thanks for having me this month.

  8. Twist my arm! Fine, I will have to try one of these fancy cards because they are so cool! Is it me or do they look a bit like a frog waiting to leap back into the water? I love how you put this together Paula. It's the perfect mix of DSP and color and embellishing. I can just picture someone pulling this out of the envelope and having that fun sentiment spring up at them. Fantastic job!
