GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT - #GDP001

Welcome to the Global Design Project's first challenge!  We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who have come together to do what we love best - Inspire, Create and Share!
Hopefully, you have already had a sneak peek at the colour challenge we have for you and have already started designing your first design entry!  Make sure you bookmark the Global Design Project website and subscribe by email so you don't miss a post!

I love colour challenges, but sometimes they can be just that - a challenge!  I must admit to not being a subtles girl, so this colour combination actually had me stumped for a while.  It took me out of my comfort zone, but enabled me to make a project I really like!  Isn't that what a challenge is all about?

The best way for me to attack a challenge that is perhaps stretching me, is to KISS (Keep It Simple Stamper!) it.

I have used a lot of white space on my card, stamped a random pattern using the Endless Thanks stamp set, and added a simple banner sentiment across the width of my card, with a little bling.

My favourite part of the project is this wee box which I filled with chocolate, of course! The very talented Erica Cerwin has a video on how to make this sweetie.  I simply made mine just a tad taller to hold more chocolate.  After all, you can never have too much!
My card had flowers on it and so does the wee tag on the box.  I wanted to decorate the box with a belly band topped with a flower too.  To create the flower, I die cut 8 petals using the Bouquet Bigz die, then pulled each petal between my thumb and a bone folder a number of times to break the card stock fibres.  This also causes the card to separate into two pieces, giving me 16 petals with a lovely soft suede-like texture.  I used a hot glue gun to stick all my petals together, arranging them into a rose.

I am so excited to be designing with such amazing Stampin' Up! artists and I invite you to head over the Global Design Project website and check out their amazing designs.  I look forward to having you join in with our challenges too!
